Blazon

Shield

Per bend sinister Azure and Tenn, a vol Argent and issuant from its base four lightning bolts of the like.

Crest

On a wreath of the colors Argent and Azure, a spearhead Or with shaft Gules and winged of the second in front of a wreath of laurel branches Gold.

Motto

Symbolism

Shield

Ultramarine blue and golden orange are the colors assigned to the Aviation branch.  The wings symbolize the units combat mission of aerial assaults against selected targets with the four lightning bolts representing the personnel and equipment of the Battalion and the speed and accuracy with which the unit performs its mission.

Crest

The color scarlet and the gold laurel branches allude to the Vietnam Cross of Gallantry, with palm, awarded the unit for its participation in the conflict there.  The spearhead and wings conjoined symbolize the units combat mission of aerial assault against selected targets.

Background
The coat of arms was approved on 12 February 1987.

NOTE:  This Battalion was not authorized a distinctive unit insignia.
